The
Bearcat
| Infectious
dance music from this internationally renowned Cajun
band |
The
Bearcats
started out in 1991 and have long been the 1st. choice for
clubs and festivals booking a traditional Cajun band.
They have played all over Europe including Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland, Denmark and appeared at major festivals and
venues in the U.K. and Ireland including Glastonbury, The
Barbican Centre, Cork Festival, Trowbridge Festival and
Sidmouth.
The Bearcats have always appealed not just to Cajun fans
but also to any crowd up for a good time. The 5-piece line-up
of accordion, twin fiddles, guitar, drums and pedal steel
guitar produces the big rocking sound they are renowned
for.
The line-up features the best known musicians playing Cajun
music in the U.K. today including Chris Hall on accordion
who played with Paul McCartney on his last single and album,
Jock Tyldesley, Mitch Proctor, Sam Murray and John Elliott.
Their approach is simple. Straight down the line, uncluttered,
driving Cajun music which defies the audience not to dance.
On stage the band capture the subtle rhythms of the two-steps
and waltzes which are the staple diet of all Cajun bands.
In addition they vary their sets with Cajun blues and one-steps,
to provide a non-stop Louisiana Saturday night whatever
day of the week!
